WELCOME TO MATTHEW'S BLOG

Hi! My name is Matthew Joseph and I am a member of the Aberystwyth Robotics Club. I created this webpage, as part of one of my assignments, to explain and discuss some of the projects that I have been working on.

3D VEHICLE DESIGN

My most recent project has been designing a 3D vehicle on the website Tinkercad. Here is my final design:

3D Vehicle Design
Front view of vehicle
Back view of vehicle

The vehicle I designed was inspired loosely by Tesla's Cybertruck model. This is evident in some aspect's of my vehicle's design, such as its overall "boxy" shape. On the back of my vehicle, I decided add an open compartment, also known as a tonneau. This can be used to store small objects or house components such as sensors. The yellow block on the front of the vehicle represents headlights. I will only be using this for the sake of appearance rather than use.

Components

Now that I have completed my 3D vehicle design, I will need to fit certain components into the vehicle in order for it to function properly. These include a line sensor, which would detect lines and allow my vehicle to follow lines on the ground. Next, I will also need an ultrasound sensor, which would detect objects in the vehicle's path and allow it to steer clear of obstructions. My vehicle will also be using a driving mechanism as differential drive. It consists of two sets of two wheels mounted on a common axis, and each wheel can independently be driven either forward or backward. This also means that the vehicle can change its direction by varying the relative rate of rotation of its wheels. In addition to this, I would need four motors, one for each wheel. Finally, I would also need an arduino board, which I will programme to control how the motors, sensor and other electronic parts work together.
