A workshop using non-standard dice to explore the idea of transitivity in mathematics.
To discuss or book this or any of our other workshops, please contact Tally Roberts.
Along with a delivery officer, PowerPoint slides and handouts, we also provide templates for the dice used in this activity.
Scissors, glue/tape, and markers for the creation of the necessary dice.
This session is between 30-60 minutes depending on the inclusion of dice making and/or the complexity of the maths covered.
This can be targeted towards KS3 (ages 11-13), GCSE learners and/or A-Level students.
The basic version is looking at transitivity using probability matrices. The more advanced sessions focus more on the mathematics of the transitivity being demonstrated with this exercise.
We happily provide this as a stand-alone session, or as part of a series.
If the probability matrices are your focus, we can easily combine this with our Dragon Racing workshop
As with most of our workshops, we are happy to offer our support remotely through Teams or Zoom conferencing software.
We will send all handouts and templates through by e-mail before the session to be printed ready.
Alternatively, there is a version of this workshop already available on our Outreach Hub - see Dice Duelling
